Judy Flores' Ornaments
Judy Flores is one of the most celebrated artists in Micronesia today. Her vibrantly colored Batik paintings depict the beauty and culture of Pacific Island life. Her original works can be found gracing the walls of many fine homes, hotels and businesses worldwide. Now you can enjoy some of her selected works reproduced on these unique glass ornaments.
This form of artwork,
known as Eglomise, has existed in China since 1802. Originally
developed as a means of portraying French trading ships on flat glass,
artists eventually incorporated other forms of glass, including bottles
and ornaments.
Each ornament we sell is individually hand blown and then meticulously
hand painted on the inside with small, curved brushes using a technique
also known as "reverse painting." This is a true art
form in China, and the artists are highly skilled and highly respected
there.
These ornaments make beautiful and unique gifts. In addition to brightening
up any Christmas tree, they can be proudly displayed throughout the year.
Each ornament is about 3" in diameter, and comes individually packaged
in an attractive, padded box which offers maximum protection for shipping
and storage.
